烂柯_Limb Clock

2017-2018|60 mins|Theatre

Ancient people liked to conceive myths with their own physical bodies, escaping reality in the fictitious mystery, and then reflecting on themselves and their surroundings with it. Originated from the legend of “Watching Chess on the Mountain”, “Limb Clock” makes a strong contrast through time and space. Time is tolerant and beautiful for gods in the mountain, but ruthless and lonely for human. We rely on our bodies within the limitations of reality, while incessantly pursuing infinity and eternity. Similarly, young people in current Chinese society are seeking a wonderland beyond reality by constantly shuttling between the virtual world and the reality, being addicted to plastic surgery, artificial intelligence, editing selfies, and fictional couples. In fact, our bodies seem like a huge container, holding time and space, immortals and mortals, self and others, male and female, strength and delicacy, warmth and indifference.
